For nannies

Ten interview questions every nanny should rehearse

Calm conversation in a home environment

Families are not scoring perfection—they are testing judgment, warmth, and whether you can partner when the day does not go to plan.

Experience and fit

  • Walk us through a typical day with your last family—how did handoffs work?
  • How do you approach children of this age/stage differently than ten or fifteen years ago?

Boundaries and judgment

  • How do you handle discipline when parents are not home—and when they disagree with your approach?
  • Tell us about a time a schedule blew up. What did you communicate, and when?

Logistics

  • Are you comfortable with our mileage, travel, or pet expectations?
  • What compensation and benefits matter most for you to say yes and stay?

For each answer, aim for one clear situation, what you did, and what you would tweak with hindsight.
